Clean Bandit presented with Triple Platinum plaques in Toronto

UK electro-pop group Clean Bandit received their first Canadian certification in 2014 with their breakthrough hit “Rather Be,” which later went on to earn them a Double Platinum certification. In 2017, Clean Bandit outdid themselves with “Rockabye,” which became their highest certified track in Canada when it was certified Triple Platinum on April 12.

Prior to their headlining show in Toronto with multi-Platinum artist Zara Larsson, Clean Bandit were presented with Triple Platinum plaques for “Rockabye” by Warner Music Canada. Following the Toronto show, they traveled to Montreal for their final Canadian date of their tour.

Karl Wolf receives Gold plaque during JUNO Weekend in Ottawa

Canadian R&B artist Karl Wolf now has another Canadian Gold award plaque to add to his collection.

During JUNO Weekend in Ottawa, Wolf was presented with a Gold Single Award plaque for his hit “Amateur At Love,” a track which features fellow Canadian hip hop artist Kardinal Offishall. The plaque was presented by Cordova Bay Records at Wolf’s party Friday, April 1, at Flybar.

“Amateur At Love” is Wolf’s first certification as a solo artist since 2012’s “Mash It Up,” and is the first to be certified under the Single Award guidelines, which includes on-demand subscription service streams. In addition to his solo work, Wolf has collaborated as a songwriter on many projects, most notably OMI’s breakthrough Seven Times Platinum hit “Cheerleader.”

Wolf shared several photos of the award presentation through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

KYLE presented with first ever Platinum plaque in Toronto

American hip hop artist KYLE (AKA Super Duper Kyle) was presented with the first Platinum award plaque of his career last night in Toronto for his breakthrough hit “iSpy” featuring Lil Yachty. The plaque was presented to KYLE by Warner Music Canada prior to his show at the Mod Club, which was the only Canadian stop on his 2017 headlining SUPER Tour.

Warner Music Canada shared photos of the presentation on their Twitter and Instagram pages, as well as a video of Toronto rapper Jazz Cartier appearing on stage with Kyle as a surprise guest.

July Talk receive Gold award plaques during JUNO Weekend in Ottawa

Toronto rock band July Talk were the talk of the 2017 JUNO Awards following their sensational performance of “Picturing Love” from Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre. The performance capped off an exciting weekend for the group, who took home Alternative Album of the Year for their sophomore album Touch at Saturday’s Gala.

On Friday, March 31, July Talk were also surprised with a Gold award plaque by Sleepless Records for their hit “Guns + Ammunition” at Ottawa’s Albion Room. The track was the third single from July Talk’s debut self-titled album, which was certified Gold in Canada on September 1, 2015.

Bebe Rexha presented with Gold plaque for “I Got You” in Toronto

Bebe Rexha may have first appeared on your radar with G-Eazy’s breakout track “Me, Myself, & I,” a song the Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter co-wrote and featured on. The track was certified Triple Platinum in Canada, and she’s appeared on several other Canadian certified tracks including Martin Garrix’s “In The Name Of Love,” David Guetta’s “Hey Mama,” and Cash Cash’s “Take Me Home.”

Last Thursday, Rexha appeared at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre amidst her North American tour for her acclaimed EP All Your Fault Pt. 1. Prior to the show, Rexha was surprised with a Gold plaque for the lead single “I Got You” by staff from Warner Music Canada, which she shared with her Rexhars through her Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Fans won’t have to wait long for new music from the singer. Rexha confirmed via Twitter she will release the EP All Your Fault Pt. 2 in mid-April.

Simple Plan receive Gold Single plaques in Toronto

Canadian pop-punk heavyweights Simple Plan took over Toronto’s Air Canada Centre Tuesday night in support of their 2016 album Taking One For The Team. Prior to their set, staff from Warner Music Canada and Coalition Music presented the group with Gold Single plaques for the album’s lead single “I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed.”

“I Don’t Wanna Go To Bed,” which features a verse by rapper Nelly, is the group’s first track to be certified since 2014, when “Summer Paradise” was certified Triple Platinum.

Later this week, Simple Plan will embark on a North American tour commemorating the 15th anniversary of the album No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls, which was certified Double Platinum in 2005. The Montreal-based group plays their hometown tonight at the Bell Centre before embarking on the tour.

During a visit to Toronto, British electronic group Clean Bandit were presented with Double Platinum award plaques for “Rockabye” by Warner Music Canada. The track, which features Sean Paul and Anne-Marie, is the group’s second track to be certified Double Platinum in Canada, joining their 2014 hit “Rather Be.”

Clean Bandit will return to Toronto amidst a North American tour on April 24, 2017, with Zara Larsson and Starley. The tour will also hit Montreal on April 25.

Arkells receive Gold plaques before massive hometown show

For JUNO-Award winning rock group Arkells, Friday, February 10, 2017, will certainly go down as one of the most surreal nights of the band’s career. With the LED sign outside the FirstOntario Centre flashing “Welcome Home ARKELLS,” Hamilton, Ontario was eager to plow through the heavy snowfall and sing along again with their hometown heroes. Around 9 PM, Arkells took to the stage in front of 10,000 adoring fans and kick-started an epic 26-song set that will be talked about for years to come.

Prior to their set, the band was surprised backstage with Gold Single plaques for “Leather Jacket,” from their 2016 album Morning Report. “Leather Jacket” is the band’s first Canadian Single Award certification. In 2015, Arkells received their first Gold plaques for the album High Noon.

Red Hot Chili Peppers presented with Gold plaques for ‘The Getaway’ in Toronto

Prior to their highly anticipated sold-out show at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, legendary rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers were presented with Gold award plaques for their latest album The Getaway by Warner Music Canada.

The 2016 album also features the Gold-certified single “Dark Necessities.” The Getaway is the band’s ninth album to be certified Gold in Canada, while “Dark Necessities” is the first track in the band’s career to be certified in Canada. In 2001, the band received their highest Canadian certification for Californication at Six Times Platinum.

Cole Swindell surprised with plaque in Hamilton for Gold singles

American country music artist Cole Swindell was in Hamilton last Wednesday to kick off his opening slot on Dierks Bentley’s 2017 North American tour. Prior to his set at the FirstOntario Centre, Swindell was surprised with a Gold plaque by Warner Music Canada commemorating the certifications of his tracks “Middle Of A Memory,” and “You Should Be Here.”

Swindell thanked his fans in a video posted to Warner Music Canada’s Twitter account. In the clip, Swindell praises his Canadian team behind him, and says he hopes to return to Canada soon as a headliner.

Swindell has received a total of five Gold Canadian certifications to date, and a Platinum certification for “Chilin’ It.” These certifications are his first under the new Single Award guidelines, which combine on-demand streams and digital sales.

Beginning February 1 in Winnipeg, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, and Jon Pardi will commence the Canadian leg of their tour, wrapping up February 9 in Vancouver.
