Loud Luxury receive 4x Platinum plaque for breakthrough hit

Toronto-based DJ duo Loud Luxury scored one of the hottest tracks of the summer with their breakthrough single “Body” featuring Brando (centre). Originally certified Gold in March, “Body” was officially certified 4x Platinum ahead of their massive hometown performance at Toronto’s VELD Festival, where they were surprised with a plaque from Sony Music Canada.

Dan + Shay receive Platinum plaques in Toronto

Country stars Dan + Shay have had an incredible 2018 lead by the success of their single “Tequila,” which was officially certified Canadian Platinum on June 1, 2018. Ahead of their opening slot for Rascal Flatts at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage last week, Warner Music Canada presented with duo with plaques commemorating the Platinum certification.

“Tequila” is their second Platinum certification in Canada, having received one in 2017 for their hit “From The Ground Up.” They also have two more Gold certifications in Canada for “19 You + Me” and “Nothin’ Like You.”

Panic! At The Disco surprised with Gold plaques in Toronto

Brendon Urie, the creative force behind American dance rock band Panic! At The Disco, paid a visit to Toronto for a stop on the band’s 2018 tour in support of their latest album Pray For The Wicked. Prior to the headlining show at Scotiabank Arena, Urie was surprised by Warner Music Canada with two Gold plaques for 2016 album and title track Death Of A Bachelor, along with its accompanying singles “Victorious,” “Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time,” “Hallelujah,” “Emperor’s New Clothes,” “LA Devotee.”

These are Panic!’s first certifications in the streaming era, and the first since the Platinum certification of their classic 2005 debut A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.

Greta Van Fleet receive first career Gold plaques in Toronto

Michigan-bred four piece rock band Greta Van Fleet were surprised with Canadian Gold award plaques by Universal Music Canada ahead of their two-night sold out run at Toronto’s REBEL nightclub. The plaques commemorate the band’s first ever Gold certifications of their debut album From The Fires and its single “Highway Tune.”

Prior to their shows in Toronto, the band opened for the Foo Fighters at Ottawa’s RBC Bluesfest and Quebec City’s Festival d’été. They will return to Canada in September for a run of shows in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton.

Arkells surprised with Gold ‘Morning Report’ plaques in Toronto

Hamilton, ON rock band Arkells were surprised with new Gold Album Award plaques for their 2016 album Morning Report by Universal Music Canada. The band has now recieved Gold certifications for all four of their full-length studio albums, which includes Jackson Square (2008), Michigan Left (2011), and High Noon (2014). The custom plaques also commemorates the Gold certification of the Morning Report single “Knocking At The Door.”

The band shared the news with their fans across their social media accounts with a photo from a recording studio, suggesting some new music may be on the way!

Dennis Lloyd receives first Canadian Gold Album Award plaques in Toronto

Prior to his sold out show at Toronto’s Velvet Underground, Tel-Aviv artist Dennis Lloyd was surprised with his first Canadian Gold Single Award plaque for his breezy hit “Nevermind” by Warner Music Canada. Lloyd shared the exciting news with his fans through his social media accounts.

Post Malone surprised with Double Platinum plaque for sophomore LP

Ahead of his sold out show at Echo Beach in Toronto this week, American rapper Post Malone was presented with a Double Platinum plaque for his 2018 sophomore album beerbongs and bentleys by President/CEO of Universal Music Canada, Jeffrey Remedios.

Later in the week, beerbongs’ highest certified single “rockstar (ft. 21 Savage)” joined Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger” as the only songs so far in 2018 to earn 9x Platinum certifications. The album also includes the Triple Platinum single “Psycho (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)” and Double Platinum single “Candy Paint.”

Post Malone was one of the top certified artists in Canada in 2017, with 8 tracks from his debut Double Platinum album Stoney earning Single Award certifications.

Portugal. The Man receive first Canadian Gold Album Award plaques in Toronto

Portugal. The Man were in Toronto last Thursday to help kick off the Budweiser Stage’s outdoor concert season with a co-headlining show alongside Canadian indie all-stars Broken Social Scene. Prior to their highly anticipated return to the city, the Portland-based band was surprised with their first Canadian Gold Album Award plaques for their 2017 LP Woodstock by Warner Music Canada. The album features the summer 2017 hit single “Feel It Still,” which they also received new 4x Platinum custom plaques for.

Legacy of Canadian Cutting Crew member honoured with Platinum plaque at 2018 ECMA Awards

During the 2018 East Coast Music Association Awards earlier this month in Halifax, NS, the legacy of Cutting Crew guitarist Kevin Scott Macmichael was recognized with the presentation of a Platinum Single Award plaque for the UK group’s hit “(I Just) Died In Your Arms.” Universal Music Canada presented the vintage-style awards during the show to Kevin’s daughters Cadence and Liz Macmichael, who were also in attendance to accept their father’s ECMA Directors Special Achievement Award.

Camila Cabello presented with Platinum plaque in Toronto

Following an electric performance at the Sony Centre on April 27, 2018, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. staff presented Camila Cabello and Manager Roger Gold with a plaque commemorating the Canadian Platinum certification of her debut studio album Camila. The plaque also highlights the 7x Platinum certification of “Havana (ft. Young Thug),” the Platinum certification of “Never Be The Same,” and the Gold certifications of “Real Friends” and “She Loves Control.”
